NFL Franchise Deploys TVUPack for Live Streaming

TVU Networks, the global technology leader in live IP video solutions, today announced that the NFL’s Carolina Panthers have partnered with TVU to deploy TVUPack wireless uplink backpack to provide HD video solutions for the Charlotte, North Carolina-based team. The Panthers deployed TVUPack to capture and transmit professional-quality video from post-game press conferences and interviews, as part their weekly Game Day wrap-up show. After careful evaluation of live mobile video solutions, the Panthers selected TVUPack because of the solution’s ease-of-use, low latency and picture quality.

     
     
 
Woody Allen moves to digital with Sony CineAlta F65

Sony today confirmed that filmmaker Woody Allen has chosen Sony CineAlta for his first ever digital shoot. For this special project, Allen will be shooting with Sony’s CineAlta F65 camera and the film will be mastered in 4K. The F65 has long been the choice among filmmakers around the world, including critically acclaimed cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, who will be working with Allen on the currently untitled film.

     
     
 
Harmonic provides storage system to Encompass

Video delivery infrastructure provider Harmonic has announced that Encompass Digital Media is now utilizing its MediaGrid shared storage system for central storage with Encompass’ media capture, management and distribution services. The MediaGrid system will support an IP-based digital media workflow with its media-optimized file system driver and read/write performance.

     
     
 
Sony Unveiled a Professional RAID Line of Portable Hard Drives

One of the announcements that you might have missed from this year’s IBC trade show in Amsterdam is related to the professional RAID line of portable hard drives that Sony recently launched along with the flagship Sony PXW-FS5 and Sony A7S II cameras. Positioned as part of the company’s 4K production workflow, Sony unveiled the PSZ-RA4T and PSZ-RA6T units providing 4TB and 6TB of data storage capacity respectively.

     
     
 
Zylight Taking Silent LED Fresnel to LDI 2015

Zylight will demonstrate a prototype of its new “silent” F8-300 LED Fresnel at Live Design International (LDI) 2015, which runs Oct. 23-24 in Las Vegas, Nev. Engineered specifically for quiet studios and venues, the F8-300 delivers the equivalent brightness of a 600-watt HMI Fresnel while using passive cooling instead of an internal fan.

Sony confirm FS7 will get 2K center crop and other new features by end of 2015

As previously announced, Sony have confirmed that an upcoming firmware release for the popular Sony PXW-FS7 will enable several new features by the end of the year. The most notable addition will be the 2K center scan function which crops a 2K image out of the middle of the sensor’s 4K frame. The feature, that is also found on the new FS5, will effectively double your lenses’ focal length without losing any stops of light when shooting in HD or 2K modes.
