Sony Teases The Development Of The FX6

VENICE, FX9, and now Sony teases the FX6. The tease and a photo are about all we know about the FX6, officially. Unofficially, the details about the Sony FX6, and it’s placement within Sony’s news Cinema Line, tells us quite a bit. First off, CineAlta seems to have been replaced by the marketing of Cinema Line. I believe this helps consumers understand the idea that cinema features, typically found in higher-end cameras like the VENICE, may be found in smaller, less expensive cameras like the FX6. Think color science, a full-frame sensor, and useful auto-focus features.

     
     
 
Sony Launches Cinema Line and Unveils FX6 Development

Sony has just announced the launch of Cinema Line, a series of new camera products for content creators which will bring together Sony’s expertise in “image quality, attention to detail, technology, and passion in digital cinema.” Cinema Line will deliver not only the coveted cinematographic look cultivated through extensive experience in digital cinema production, but also the enhanced operability and reliability that meet discerning creators’ various needs. The new series will extend beyond basic cinema camera and professional camcorder form factors.

     
     
 
Fujinon Announced Premista 19-45mm T2.9 Zoom Lens

Fujinon announced the development of their wide-angle cine zoom lens FUJINON Premista 19-45mm T2.9. Like the other lenses in the Premista series, this new Premista 19-45mm produces an image circle of 46.3mm and supports both Cooke /i technology and ZEISS eXtended Data for lens metadata – such as focus, zoom, and iris position – to be recorded during shooting.

     
     
 
Sony Upgrades PTZ Cameras to Enhance AR, VR Capabilities

Sony has announced it is upgrading its BRC remote PTZ cameras. The V2.1 firmware release for the BRC-X1000/1, BRC-X1000/WPW and BRC-H800/1, BRC-H800/WPW allows producers and operators to simplify their VR and AR production workflows, the company said.

TRACAB Gen5 Provides Demo of Semi-Automated Offside Technology Developments to the Football World

ChyronHego’s TRACAB team in Sweden has achieved another important milestone in its latest developments towards a semi-automated offside technology, based upon the Emmy Award-winning TRACAB Gen5 optical tracking system. At a June 22 video conference hosted by ChyronHego and attended by FIFA and its Working Group for Innovation Excellence, the TRACAB team presented a demonstration of powerful new capabilities in TRACAB OCT (Offside Calling Technology) (Story on FIFA Website). Exploiting its AI-driven ball tracking for automated ball pass detection, combined with limb tracking and skeletal modeling derived from video feeds, the technology is showing great promise to support referees in the future to make fast and highly accurate offside calling decisions.
