Sound Devices, LLC, announces that Firmware Version 3.10 for its 6-Series line of mixer/recorders (688, 664, and 633) now offer wireless remote transport control, metadata editing and other enhanced workflow functionality via mobile devices with touchscreen interfaces. With this new release, made possible through partnerships with Timecode Systems and PureBlend Software, as well as Ambient® Recording and Lockit Network GmbH, users now have the ability to display and manage metadata for takes recorded on 6-Series mixers.

     
     
 
M6 and TF1 choose ATEME H.265 encoding for major European football tournament

ATEME has confirmed that TF1 and M6, private national French television stations, selected ATEME to encode in 4K-UHD HEVC (H.265) eight of the football matches of a major European tournament. ATEME provided a complete video headend, which includes its encoder TITAN Live 4K, as well as all necessary resources that are required for a high-quality and fully secured service. The 4K-encoded matches will be available for Orange fibre customers via the New Livebox on any compatible TV.

     
     
 
Panasonic AG-AC30. New camera with a built-in LED light

Axon helps China Broadcast its first National Youth Games in High Definition

Axon Digital Design’s modular broadcast infrastructure played a key role in ensuring that China’s first National Youth Games was successfully transmitted in full High Definition to television audiences throughout the country. Held in the Haixia Olympic Sports Center in the south China city of Fuzhou, the Games involved nearly 8,000 athletes who competed in 305 events across 26 sports, including martial arts. It was the biggest multi-sport games ever held in Fuzhou and was officially opened by China’s Vice-Premier Liu Yandong.

     
     
 
Sony FS7 firmware 4.0 now available for download

A couple of months after it was announced, Sony have today made their latest version 4.0 firmware for the PXW-FS7 available for download. The biggest improvement for many users will be the rapid access to slow motion settings and support for XAVC-I at true 24 fps in 4K.
