Panasonic has used IBC 2018 in Amsterdam, to introduce a new ENG camera offering greater connectivity, operability, and clarity. The AJ-PX5100 is a B4 shoulder mounted P2HD camera-recorder which upgrades the company’s successful PX5000 series. With it, a breadth of recording options and exceptional image quality the PX5100 is targeted at network news, documentary, high-end corporate and sports production, as well as the rental market.

At IBC 2018, Sony is unveiled four new live production system cameras, further expanding and evolving the Sony HDC family well-acclaimed by broadcasters and media companies across the globe. The next generation of system cameras (HDC-P50, HDC-3500) feature the world’s first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter three CMOS sensor system, and a newly developed HD HDR optical block (HDC-3100/HDC-3170). The new cameras offer content creators unprecedented flexibility and reliability, in addition to the uncompromised, premium 4K/HD HDR picture quality they have come to expect from Sony solutions.

At IBC 2018 Calrec unveiled its new Impulse core, the next generation audio processing platform. The Impulse core is a very powerful audio processing and routing engine with AES67 and SMPTE 2110 connectivity. The Impulse core is compatible with existing Apollo and Artemis control surfaces, providing a simple upgrade path for existing Calrec customers.

Hard to believe that it is three years since NewTek first announced its Video over IP network technology, NDI, at IBC2015. As Brian Olson, the company’s VP Product Management says though, it is only going from strength to strength with v3.7.

Virgin Media has partnered with Globecast to launch the UK's first dedicated 4K UHD entertainment channel, Virgin TV Ultra HD. Cinegy’s broadcast playout engine, Cinegy Air PRO, is used to allow the building of the “Channel in the Cloud” clearly showing the benefits of cloud technologies in being able to launch a complete service in a fraction of the time it would have taken traditionally.

At IBC 2018, Sony announced a new 31-inch Grade 1 reference monitor, the BVM-HX310, which offers accurate colour reproduction and high-contrast performance to provide professional content creatives the assurance in critical picture decisions. The BVM-HX310 reference monitor reproduces 4K HDR content of up to 1,000 nits brightness with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The launch of the new reference monitor also marks the introduction of Sony’s new technology brand TRIMASTER HX.
